Understanding Market Structure by Brian Shannon

Brian Shannon, Alphatrends

Brian is a full time trader (with more than 20 years of experience), educator and author of the highly regarded book [Technical Analysis Using Multiple Timeframes]. Brian is best known for his technical analysis videos which are the #1 most subscribed financial videos on Youtube. Brian is an investor, senior contributor and advisor of stocktwits.com.  I’m pleased to say that Brian is a friend and trusted colleague, and I value his opinions above all in the trading space.

“I believe in honesty, realistic expectations and true representations of what people can expect. Everything I say here is done without the slightest exaggeration. Integrity is everything to me.  While this business is rife with charlatans that prey on people’s greed, I only talk about substance and obtainable trading results.”

Brian has allowed me to share this infographic that he designed, so in the Prezi created below, we see his illustration of the nature of Market Structure in straightforward and useful terms.
Market Structures can be divided into Four Distinct Behavior Patterns -Accumulation, Markup, Distribution and Decline –

Note the graphic carefully as Brian defines the best places for us to become involved from both a short term swing investor’s perspective and shorter cycles that active traders in the market can use effectively.

Studying the markets and learning about its cycles is one of the most important things that we can focus on as traders and short term investors.

If you are new to Prezi, note after the start is initiated you have the ability to expand to full screen and review the slides in great detail – you are also able to drag the cursor around so that you can focus on information that most interests you
